Pollensa has always been a popular place to buy property for people from the UK and beyond. It's such a pretty little town too. With the magnificent backdrop of the Tramuntana mountains and the famous Calvary Steps, plus lots of excellent restaurants, Pollensa provides a relaxed chic vibe. The heart and soul of Pollensa  town is the central square, Plaça Major, where you can watch the world go by sitting outside at one of the many terraced cafes.

You're never short of things to enjoy in Pollensa. There is a very popular Sunday food market held in the Plaça Major and surrounding streets that attracts people from near and far. The annual Pollensa Wine Fair held in the beautiful cloisters of the Convent de Santo Domingo showcases Mallorcan wines and attracts buyers and visitors from all over Europe and beyond.

If golf is your thing, Pollensa is the place to be. Just a few kilometres out of town is the 18-hole Alcanada Golf Club, widely regarded as the best golf course in Europe. It's a challenging par-72 but the breathtaking location by the sea makes it all worthwhile. There are several excellent museums to visit in Pollensa, but perhaps the most remarkable experience of all is the festival of Mare de Déu dels Àngels, held every August. Here the people of Pollensa celebrate the victory over the Turkish pirate Dragut in 1550, with enthusiastic street battles enjoyed by crowds of spectators. As you can imagine, Pollensa has a considerable collection of fine restaurants and hotels. One of the best restaurants is Il Giardino. Right at the heart of the action in Plaça Major, it is Italian for heaven! For something more traditionally Spanish in the cuisine stakes, try Clivia (971 533 635).

As for accommodation, Hotel Posada de Lluc is a small but lovingly-restored stone house in the centre of town. It has all the home comforts you would expect including an outside pool. You couldn't be more conveniently placed than at Hotel Juma Overlooking Plaça Major, it was once an old stone merchant's house.

Pollensa is just off the main Ma-2200 Palma Road and is easily reached by major road and motorway from Palma International Airport. Fairly regular buses ferry you from Palma, Soller, Inca, Lluc, Cala Sant Vincenç and Alcudia. There is a taxi rank in the centre of town too.
