The first thing you notice when you get near to Muro when looking for houses for sale, is the preponderance of traditional Mallorcan windmills. The flat, local landscape around Muro is dotted with them.

A big attraction in Muro is the Museu Etnologic. Housed in a rambling old former Muro mansion, the museum features a variety of old artefacts relevant to the town’s long history – pottery, old farm implements, traditional costumes, Majorcan bagpipes and so on.

Look out for the miniature ceramics called siurells, painted green, red and white. Once given as presents by Mallorceans, they actually work as whistles and have now become something of a tourist souvenir. Muro really comes to life, however, for the Revetlla de Sant Antoni Abat every January. This is Muro’s traditional and popularfiesta  where local people congregate around bonfires to eat, drink and dance. The ancient music and old, traditional Majorcan dances transport you back to a bygone age.

Muro also enjoys a direct connection by road to the capital Palma and its international airport. Yet another benefit for potential homeowners who come to look for houses for sale in Muro.
