Surrounded by pretty almond and orange groves in the shadow of the spectacular Tramuntana Mountains of western Majorca, Andratx old town is a peaceful and tranquil little place where much revolves around the weekly Wednesday morning fresh food market. If you an art fan don’t miss CCA Andrtatx, the largest contemporary art centre in the whole of Mallorca. Here you can admire ‘challenging’ art from international artists as well as a pleasant café and grounds.
The old Mallorcan town of Andratx is a delightful place to live and couldn't be more of a contrast to its sister town of Port d'Andratx five kilometres away. Needless to say, Andratx is a highly desirable choice for many people looking to buy a property in Mallorca. Whether your ideal holiday home is a bijou apartment, a luxury penthouse, a delightful villa or an attractive finca, we at Balearic Properties would be delighted to help you find your dream property in the Andratx area.
The neighbouring harbour town of Port d'Andratx is a lovely place to relax over a menu del dia or evening meal with family and friends. Many of the cafes, bars and restaurants are situated along the pretty waterfront and surrounding streets and are extremely popular in the tourist season. Being such an upmarket town, standards of dining are high and Port d'Andratx is justifiably renowned for its seafood.
Restaurant Rocamar (971 671 261) situated at the west end of the harbour is a beautiful spot facing the Mediterranean and away from the crowds. Seafood is the speciality here. Or try Marisqueria Galicia (971 672 705), a pleasant bistro specialising in Galician cuisine, especially seafood. Excellent value too.
If you like a competitive game of golf you're in luck, because Andratx has its very own golf course. Just a short drive from Puerto de Andratx is the 18-hole championship course at Andratx Golf Club (971 236 280)
This golf course is one of the most challenging in Mallorca with 60 bunkers and 7 lakes to test your skills, and attracts a wealth of celebrities. The setting is spectacular too, with splendid views of the rolling hills and the sea nearby. Buggies are included in the green fees and there is an excellent Italian restaurant in the clubhouse.
There is a direct Motorway route from Palma airport to the outskirts of Andratx 23km away, so journeys by hire car or taxi are simple and straightforward. There is also a regular bus service to Port d' Andratx, Palma, Peguera and Sant Elm.
