Mallorca has always attracted writers and artists to its shores. In the 1830s the celebrated writer George Sand spent time here with her partner composer Frederic Chopin. They resided in the town’s famous monastery and their stay is outlined in her book A Winter in Majorca. Unsurprisingly, Valldemossa monastery is one of the most visited places in Mallorca.
