Considering that Pollensa is a village with approx. 14.000 inhabitants, it is actually quite amazing what this community manages to organise year upon year, attracting some top names in the world of local entertainment. Those lucky property owners, who have a town house or an apartment in Pollensa will be able to enjoy the events that are taking place “on their doorstep” without any form of displacement!
In Pollensa events are taking place simultaneously, in the beautiful church at the Santo Domingo Cloister, there is a fantastic art exhibition whilst at the Gallery Bennassar you can always be certain of admiring fine contemporary art. Due to the fact that Pollensa is celebrating the annual “Patrona” fiestas, both venues have made the tremendous effort, to put on show spectacular art exhibits http://www.galeriadionisbennassar.com
Even if you do not live in a town house directly in the historical centre, but prefer the quiet rural life and have bought a finca, or farmhouse, in Pollensa’s outskirts it only takes a few minutes drive into town and you can happily participate in this vibrant and international summer scene.
To compliment the various art exhibitions, Pollensa also takes centre stage when it comes to classical music.
This year's International Music Festival in Pollença is currently taking place between 27th July and 23rd August. Lovers of classical music will be able to enjoy a total of seven concerts which are staged each year in the courtyard of the Monastery of Santo Domingo. Artistic Director of the traditional festival is Joan Valent. email@example.com The patron of this outstanding venue is non other than Queen Sofia herself, who has been a loyal visitor year upon year!
This famous festival has been taking place now for 53 years and the locals are extremely proud of this emblematic venue which attracts lovers of classical music from all over the world. Over the years, some of the greats of the classical music world have performed live here and enchanted their audiences, including Monserrat Caballé and Yehudi Menuhin just to name two! It would take up too much space to list all the concerts here but just to pick out one: on Wednesday, 6th August, Vivaldi's "Four Seasons" with the local Symphony Orchestra directed by Daniel Hope, will most certainly be an evening to remember!

Last but not least, let us also mention the famous “Patrona” fiestas which are now taking place here in town. Not one evening goes by without any form of open-air activity on the main square and let us not forget the various sports venues during the day. The whole action builds up to the big day, when the Christians and Moors clash in the streets of Pollensa in the course of a feigned battle to commemorate the historic fight hundreds of years ago, when the valiant inhabitants of Pollensa overcame the pirate invasion. Many can witness this spectacle from the balconies of their Pollensa town houses or apartments!
