Wine and Cheese Fair in Estellencs, West Mallorca



A wine and cheese fair - Fira del Vi i el Formatge - takes place on Thursday, May 1st, in Estellencs, a beautiful resort of Western Mallorca. Usually it is from 10am to 5pm, the stalls are in the center of the village. The focus is on cheeses from Mallorca and Menorca, as well as island wines.

 

Dance Festival "Palma amb la dansa"

Until May 4th the dance festival "Palma amb la dansa" is taking place, in which dancers and dance groups from Germany, Spain, Holland, Brazil and Mallorca devote their talent to contemporary dance. Venues include the Xesc Forteza Theatre, the Museum Baluard and the Ses Voltes in Palma.


The festival’s existence is largely due to the initiative of Catalina Carrasco. The dancer, performer and choreographer could convince the Palma City Council to stand up for contemporary dance, and "Palma amb la dansa" is now one of the most important cultural events in the spring.


The festival program includes dance in different rooms and for those who want to join in themselves, there is a two day workshop with the troupe Panama Pictures and longer workshops with Catalian Carrasco and Marga Llobera.


The dance groups come from Andalusia and other regions of Spain, Italy and Germany. The Cologne Ensemnble F.A.C.E. is led by the Hungarian Szabó Kristof. The German choreographer Pia Meuthen brings her group Panama Pictures established in Holland to Mallorca.

 

Wellness Fair in Palma

The second "Expo BSB" is taking place from 2nd to 5th May in the Palma Arena. BOD stands for Belleza (Beauty), Salud (Health) and Bienestar (well-being). The exhibition is open daily from 10am to 8pm, admission costs two Euros.

During the three days, there will be numerous lectures and presentations - whether it's about Zumba or Pilates, arthritis or a healthy diet. The kids have not been forgotten - a children's program is also being offered.

Wine Fair in Pollença


One wine festival is chasing the other: the big wine fair in Pollença is taking place on Saturday May 3rd and Sunday May 4th. Opening hours of the "Fira del Vi de Pollença" are Saturday from 10am to 8.30pm and Sunday 10am to 2pm. Admission is 10 Euros. This popular fair is an excellent opportunity to taste the variety of superb wines from Mallorca. With 35 bodegas participating, it is the largest event of its kind in the Balearic Islands and all the big names will be attending. The venue is the convent of Santo Domingo (C /. Guillem Cifre de Colonya). The Claustro de Santo Domingo is located near the Joan March gardens.

 

Wine Days in Binissalem



Yet another wine festival proves Mallorca’s standing in this delicious industry! Wine Days Mallorca is the name of the wine presentation, which takes place in Binissalem from May 10th to May 18th in the famed wine production region "Denominació d'Origen" (DO). Take note that on 10th and 11th May there is a special Feria with wine tasting in the Plaça.
