Situated in the south east of Mallorca, Felanitx is a good place to look for houses for sale. This largely residential town is a popular haunt for homebuyers in the market for houses for sale in Felanitx when looking to buy that longed-for Majorcan home.

Whatever type of house in Felanitx you are searching for, whether it’s a cosy apartment, a luxury villa, a quaint townhouse or even a rural finca, we at Balearic-properties.com/en can help you in your search for that dream house for sale in Felanitx.

Felanitx is a charming municipal town. Situated roughly 13 kilometres inland from Porto Colom, Felanitx has a delightful old-world charm and peaceful vibe, making it high on the list of people looking for houses for sale in a traditional Mallorcan town.

First time visitors to Felanitx are often charmed by the delightful maze of old narrow streets and attractive stone properties. The church of Sant Miquel in the centre of Felanitx is a popular attraction, particularly to take a look at the famous (and rather bizarre) statue of St Miquel standing on the head of the devil. The church of Sant Miquel looms over the Placa Sa Font, one of Felanitx’s main squares, where an impressive flight of stone steps connects with Font de Santa Margalida, once the town’s source of water.

What attracts property buyers to Felanitx?

But the main place of interest for visitors to Felanitx is undoubtedly the medieval monastery of Santuari de Sant Salvador. Majestically positioned on a steep rock outcrop to the south east of the town, it was at one time one of Majorca’s most important sites of sacred pilgrimage. The monastery also has a restaurant and café.

However, it's not just the monastery that attracts people to Felanitx - from the sanctuary one looks out towards the Castell de Santueri. Constructed in the 14th century, the castle itself, impressively, is built into the cliffs on a site that was once an Arab fort, and before that a Roman fortress. Suffice it to say, the views from here are spectacular. Felanitx is most definitely a place linked to the land and has a long-standing tradition of artisan produce, in particular wine. (Felanitx lies at the heart of Pla & Llevant, Majorca’s second most important wine producing area.) You can also find great hotels in the centre of the village.

Markets in Santanyi

Sunday morning is a good time to be in Felanitx, where the town really comes to life with the al fresco market. Here you can purchase deliciously fresh local produce and enjoy the real buzz of market day. Just behind the church of Sant Miquel there is an authentic and traditional Mallorcan market hall. This is an excellent place to sample the area's speciality – capers, known locally as ‘green pearls’.

Felanitx has good direct road connections with Palma and its international airport approximately 50 kilometres away. This has always played a major factor in why many come to Mallorca looking for houses for sale in Felanitx.
